Probably the rarest Spoiler around is the magenta colored Sugar Caddy, released in 1971. While some colors of this model
are around in great abundance (blue, green) for some reason there are just a handful of Caddies in magenta. Only 24 are
currently known, and only two are still in their original blister packs. This color car is also not yet listed in the Tomart Guide,
but is listed in the latest edition of the Ultimate Redline Guide. I believe these are some of the most valuable Spoilers around,
not including prototypes. This page documents all of the magentas that are known to exist.

Previous owner: Donny Wilkins, Lawrence Witen, Bill from Canada, Kevin Gorin, Woody Itson
Current owner: Ed (terrischoice)

Some background on this one, from an owner (Bill from Canada):  "Here is the history of my Sugar Caddy as I far as I know.....
Donny Wilkins, London, Ontario, Canada, owned this car back in 1988 (for how long, I don't know). He thought it was scarce
because he hadn't seen the colour before. Back then, one could buy mint Spoilers for ten bucks (Cdn). Lawrence Witen of
Kitchener and Guelph, Ontario, Canada purchased this car from Donny in 1988 for forty dollars (Cdn)--a high price at that
time. Lawrence was intrigued by the colour, too. He showed the car to Scott Lesbrunt from Toronto. Scott has some
connection to Mike Strauss (friends?) as well as Vito (Redlines Canada), or so the story goes. I always liked Sugar Caddys.
Lawrence asked me if I'd be interested in purchasing (for $375. Cdn) or negotiating a trade for this particular Sugar Caddy. I
gave him a metallic red NGK with white interior, (a solid 9), a metallic green KKuda with dark interior (also a 9) and forty
dollars (Cdn). At the time, I thought I'd paid premium price--this was late fall, 2002. It was shortly afterwards that a sudden
interest by collectors surfaced in magenta as a colour for the Sugar Caddy. There was correspondence on Redlines Online in
the spring of 2003, of a possible magenta Sugar Caddy that had changed hands a couple of months previously in the
Toronto area. RLOL was trying to ascertain how many were in existence. I can't remember who started that thread, (maybe in
the archives?), but often wondered if the referral was to the one I owned. The windshield has a crack in it, approx. 7/16ths,
starting on the lower passenger side, and goes up halfway, then curves back down towards the steering wheel area. From
certain angles, it is hard to even see it, but it is definitely there."

Magenta Caddy #13
Previous owner: eBay alvant in Pennsylvania
Current owner: Ralph Antone (rumored to have been sold again)

What an incredible find this was! A seller was convinced that this car was purple, and listed it as such. What a difference a
shade makes! The car was actually magenta, and with that, the first known magenta Sugar Caddy still in the blister pack
was discovered. The car sold for only $2225 in January 2006, but would likely have gone much higher if bidders did not
have to carry the slight risk that a purple car would show up in the mail. If re-listed with an appropriate description and well
lit pictures, the piece would surely climb into the stratosphere.
